This is probably a politically incorrect question to ask, but I am really curious to see what you think. In my opinion, the US News Rankings does not paint an accurate picture. However, since basically every medical student looks at these religiously, I am assuming medical schools pay careful attention to them? What do you personally think of them?
We live in a world in which rankings (what others think about a particular institution) seem matter a great deal. Whether we like them or not, they seem to "confer" status and can offer a "competitive edge" to an institution and increase the pool of applicants. Prospective students often equate this ranking with educational quality. In my experience, medical schools tend to pay attention to them when they are pleased with the ranking results, and tend to downplay them when they are not.
