I'm currently majoring in EECS and will be graduating next year. I interned at a few companies in the past as a software engineer and my experience at these companies exposed me a lot to this career and what I should expect. While interning at a few companies, I've definitely noticed that this industry is a very male dominant field. It was rather difficult for me to transition into this role. I felt like I couldn't necessarily be myself since all of my co-workers were male. I am currently a software engineer intern in the Bay Area with this same situation except now there are at least a few women who I'm sure can relate.
I don't think being a woman or a man doesn't make much difference in tech related jobs. After all, it is your skills and attitudes that matters.
