I'm planning to buy a new laptop and I noticed that a lot of developers have Macbooks. I own a very old lenevo laptop that's dying on me so I would like something that lasts longer. My budget is relatively flexible and I would like to start focusing on creating Apple apps. Is there a big enough advantage to have an Apple laptop if I want to develop iPhone apps?
It's not a show stopper by any means but if your focus is on developing iOS apps, then the naturally suggestion would be to get a Mac. You have the option of running OS X on a Windows, either by a virtual machine or dual boot as a hackintosh. This is legal on your personal PC but it is not a supported environment. At the end of the day, it's a personal choice but if your budget is flexible, why not make the natural decision? Also, many developers have multiple machines to do their dev/test work on.
