The popularity of steampunk is on the rise and so is the number of adult movements whose goal is to establish it as a culture and lifestyle. What are your thoughts about this?

For me, I was drawn to steampunk because of the aesthetics. I've heard it described as Victorian era science fiction and while that definition isn't exactly wrong, steampunk is much more than that. As far as establishing steampunk as a culture and lifestyle I have no problems with that at all. I think on the whole, were steampunk to become a cultural norm we would at least become a much more polite society.
