So long story short, I got an offer to be a senior engineer and I could NOT resist. I haven't told my current company yet because I am dreading it. My team has been working on an extremely important release for the past 6 months and our deadline is in 2 months. I tried to negotiate the start date with the company I will work at, but it wasn't meant to be. There are only 3 programmers on my team and I know this will be a huge blow to the team, but also the management. What is the best way to turn in my two weeks notice without damaging relationships?
What advice can you give to someone who is almost 100% he is going to leave his job as a developer only a couple months before a big release?
This things always happens. You should explain all this to your manager and hopefully he/she will understanding it. The most important thing is that you tell them as soon as possible so they have more time to handle the situation.
