  • Any success stories about an unpaid internship you had?

I got an offer to do an unpaid internship, I live in Orangeburg, South Carolina so no one really knows the value of engineering here, not with computers at least. It's the only offer I've gotten so far and it's unpaid. I don't have to take it, but it's currently my only option.

Will this make me not enjoy CS? Have you guys done anything like this?

If it's the only option, take it. I had 3 months of full time unpaid internship and I don't regret a bit. What's important is that you work with a mindset to learn from whatever experience you can get. Of course it'd be good if it's paid and have strong tie to what you enjoy. But you can still learn important life lessons that help you in long-term projection of your career. If they seem to be supportive for your future and ready to invest in your growth then you will enjoy the experience. However, you should think twice if they seem to just want a free labor to do task nobody else wants to do.
