Businesses put a lot of effort into social marketing, and blog and forum are posting in the hopes that something will take off and be seen by a lot of people. Do you find that those efforts are wasted more often than not? What levels of success do posts and social marketing attempts usually see?
Going viral? I don't have an exact percent, but I'd venture to guess less than 5% of all content goes viral.
The purpose of content marketing isn't always to go viral, it can be to attract a specific audience to your content, show off knowledge, drive sales / leads, gain new links, or just get practice in making content within your team / department.
