  • How did you find your passion? I need some inspiration.

I just don't know what to do. I'm good at most things I put my mind to. I end up getting relatively good, to how quickly I just started to learn something (was able understand the MVC architectural system, learn Ruby on Rails, and build a simple forum in about 3 weeks. Granted, I've taught myself PHP and Python before). But I get a little cocky I think and the things I make don't progress past a certain point. The reason, I think, is that nothing so far has got me so hooked that I needed to keep building on it.

Where did you guys find your passion?

I wrote my first program when I was 11, many years ago in Ukraine. My middle school math teacher got me excited and encouraged me to solve a math problem via programming. I feel that this is still the case now, I get excited when I am presented with a problem to solve using programming skills. The harder the problem, the harder I work I feel and the more inspiration I find.

Props to your math teacher! Seems like a popular testimony where great programmers were introduced to the field at a young age via breaking apart a computer or tinkering with programming.

Shows to not underestimate the influence you have on a child's dream.
